Fantastic news for Laois, almost €4 million in grants has been awarded to a total of 55 Laois sports clubs in Laois in the latest round of Sports Capital Grants.

A record €3,317,114 under the Sports Capital Projects scheme has been given to Laois sports clubs while an additional €663,272 has been awarded to three projects under the Regional Sports Capital Grants. The funding is for a range of development work being carried out by various clubs and groups – including floodlights, pitch development and walking tracks. A total of 27 GAA clubs have been awarded funding with soccer, tennis, golf, rugby and cricket clubs also benefitting. The €3.3 million awarded to Laois compares to €2.7 million that Offaly organisations received. In total €144 million has been granted to over 1,900 clubs across the country.

Ann Marie Maher, Sports & Leisure Officer, Laois County Council said “Laois County Council are delighted with the level of funding allocated to County Laois sports clubs, community organisations and schools. We are particularly delighted to have been in a position to help many of these organisations with the application process and we will be happy to continue to provide assistance to all through the grant drawdown process.”

Laois PPN were delighted that a record number of 55 Clubs across Laois will benefit from Sports Capital Grants. The funding will upgrade facilities of Clubs all over the County. Laois PPN in collaboration with the Sports Section of Laois County Council supported Sports Clubs across Laois with info and guidance on their applications. Sport has many physical and mental health benefits. Laois PPN wish all Clubs every success with their projects which will benefit their local community.’
