Laois PPN Event Property Marker Rollout – Mountmellick Men’s Shed
Mountmellick Men’s Sheds was the first Community Group in the County to be supported by Laois PPN with the rollout of the Property Marker.
The Property Marker is a crime prevention initiative that provides a unique identifier on property that acts as a theft deterrent and assists Gardai in the recovery of stolen property.
Laois PPN would like to thank Mountmellick Men’s Sheds for their hospitality in welcoming Dan Begin and Majella Moore to their Shed, which included a guided tour of their refurbished facility. A Men’s Shed is a community-based project for men to come together to learn, share skills and make long lasting friendships.
Members of Mountmellick Men’s Sheds, An Gardai Síochána and Community Leaders from across Laois had previously received training on the use of the Property Marker. The Members of the Mountmellick Men’s Shed had an opportunity to put their training into practice by marking property at the Shed with a unique identifier.
Laois PPN was successful in securing funding for the Property Marker through the Community Support Fund 2022 under the Community Enhancement Programme 2022. Laois PPN wish to acknowledge the support of the LCDC, Laois County Council, Department of Rural & Community Development, and An Garda Síochána.
Dan Bergin Laois PPN Co-Ordinator stated “Laois PPN wish to thank Mountmellick Men’s Sheds for their warm welcome. Mountmellick Men’s Shed have been involved in a wide variety of Community Projects and Laois PPN wish them continued success in the future. Laois PPN will be making the Property Maker available to Community Groups across Laois in the coming months.”
